Shri Jogulamba Ammavari Temple – 5th Shakti Peetham
The Shri Jogulamba Ammavari Temple in Alampur is revered as the 5th Shakti Peetham among the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. According to Hindu mythology, this is the sacred site where the upper teeth (Oordhva Danta Pankti) of Goddess Sati fell during Lord Shiva’s Tandava. The deity is worshipped as Jogulamba (Mother of Yogis), a fierce form of Shakti who grants Siddhi (spiritual powers) in Yoga. She is depicted in Ugra Roopam (fierce form), seated on a corpse with a scorpion, frog, and lizard on her head, and her tongue extended.
