Jogulamba Gadwal: After the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), now the Transport Department put an up unofficial Emblem of Telangana on barricades established at Jogulamba Gadwal district here on Tuesday. The RTA border checkpost barricade established on the Alampur-Kurnool road on the inter-State border triggered a row again. Images of the barricade, put up by the Jogulamba Gadwal RTA officials, went viral on various social media platforms. Many raised serious objections over the RTA officials using the unofficial emblem on the barricade. “It has become fancy for officials to disrespect the official logo of Telangana,” said X user SRG. To make matters worse, the barricade is sponsored by a private hospital from Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad: A couple and their three children were killed and two other kids suffered minor injuries after a wall of their house collapsed on them in Jogulamba Gadwal district, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred in Kothapally village on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, they said adding some villagers informed police about the incident today morning. The partition wall in the hut collapsed on the seven family members who were asleep, killing five of them on the spot, a senior police official told PTI over phone. The two other children were rescued and have been admitted to a state-run hospital with minor injuries, he said. Asked if the collapse was due to the rains, the official said it was not so and the wall was apparently in a dilapidated condition.

Hyderabad: Tensions flared in Pedda Dhanwada village of Jogulamba Gadwal district as local farmers and residents escalated their protests against the proposed ethanol factory. The project, embroiled in controversy for months, is facing strong opposition due to fears of environmental degradation, water scarcity, and threats to agriculture in the area. Reports of construction work resuming late on Tuesday night sparked a fresh wave of protests by villagers. For nearly a year, residents of Pedda Dhanwada and ten surrounding villages have been engaged in a prolonged battle with the company to halt construction. People, primarily dependent on agriculture, fear the factory will pollute the environment, contaminate water sources, and deplete groundwater reserves crucial for irrigation. Similar protests were staged by farmers in Dilawarpur in Nizamabad district in January this year against another proposed ethanol factory. Public opposition had led to the cancellation of that project. The Pedda Dhanwada protests have since gained widespread support.  Political leaders from opposition parties, including the BRS, have visited the protest site and extended their support The situation took a dramatic turn on Tuesday night when the factory’s management reportedly resumed construction under the cover of darkness, despite earlier assurances from the State government that the project would be halted pending further review. The company’s actions, which included deploying containers and private personnel at the site, stunned locals and triggered immediate outrage. By Wednesday morning, residents of Pedda Dhanwada and neighbouring villages had assembled at the site and resumed protests with renewed vigour.

A Class IX student was hospitalised after a snakebite at a KGBV school in Jogulamba Gadwal, while students from another Gurukul staged a protest over unsafe drinking water, broken toilets, and government apathy despite repeated pleas for action. Gadwal: A Class IX student of Kasturba Gandhi Girls High School (KGBV) in Kalagotla village of Jogulamba Gadwal district was hospitalised after being bitten by a snake on the school premises on Wednesday morning. The student, identified as Dakshayini, raised an alarm and alerted her classmates immediately after the incident. She was shifted to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment.

Villagers of Nandimalla and Revulapalli staged a protest demanding the Telangana government construct a proposed Rs 120 crore high-level bridge as per its original alignment near the Jurala project. They opposed officials’ suggestion of a new alignment and threatened to intensify agitation.Jogulamba Gadwal: Residents of Nandimalla and Revulapalli villages in Jogulamba Gadwal and Wanaparthy districts staged a protest on Monday demanding that the government adhere to the original plans for constructing a new high-level bridge to ease traffic movement. Raising slogans against the government, the villagers squatted on the road, disrupting traffic on the bridge for a while.The State government had earlier proposed the bridge keeping in view security concerns at the Jurala project. Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy approved the plans and sanctioned Rs.120 crore, and a Government Order was also issued. However, officials conducting land acquisition surveys later recommended altering the alignment, suggesting construction of the bridge from Kothapalli on the Gadwal side. Farmers and villagers, opposing the change, demanded the bridge be built as per the original plan — from Revulapalli in Dharoor mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal to Nandimalla in Amarchinta mandal of Wanaparthy. They pointed out that these plans had been approved and considered for several years. The villagers warned that if the government failed to withdraw its new proposal, they would intensify their agitation.

A speeding car collided with a Wanaparthy depot TGRTC bus on National Highway 44 near Jinkalapally on Saturday. Despite the bus being full, all passengers escaped unhurt. The bus was full, with every seat occupied and several passengers standing. Except for a few scratches, none of the passengers suffered serious injuries, reports said.
